The rules (Zoning Resolution §515)

• Notice: the Zoning Inspector must be told in writing at least 7 days before the sale. This form is that notice.
• How often: no more than two sales at the same address in a calendar year, each lasting no more than three consecutive days.
• Hours: daylight hours only.
• Not for sale: fireworks, hazardous materials, firearms and ammunition.
• Signs: no more than five — one at the sale and four elsewhere — never on public signs, utility poles, stop or parking signs, or in the public right-of-way. Remove every sign within 12 hours after the sale.
• Parking and neighbors: parking must not create a traffic hazard, and neighbors must not be disturbed by noise, light or traffic.
• Afterward: clear the property of unsold items, trash and anything else left from the sale.

In the Business Corridor and Seasons Road Business districts, a sale may only be held by the people living in a lawful home on the same site (§714). Failing to give notice or follow the rules may result in a fine compounded daily until compliance is met.
